Home From the Honeymoon

I have five comments to catch up on and a lot of blog post writing to do because we strayed from the itinerary on day one and I don't think we successfully got back on the plan for most of the trip.  But we did so much that I can't complain.  Expect stories of things or maybe I'll just post pictures and let the captions tell the story.  We have over 1000 between us but I promise not to share them all.

Itinerary Day Twelve

This is our final day in the city and we won't really have time to do much.

Nice Matin

Breakfast at Nice Matin.  We have a 1pm flight so we'll have to be ready to head back to Newark Airport by 10am, I think.  That doesn't leave us a lot of time to do more than have breakfast and check out.  We'll have to grab some lunch while we're there because there won't be any real food on the plane and we won't be back in Georgia until after 3pm.

And then we'll be home.

It may take me a day or two to settle in, to start blogging about how our trip really turned out.  As you can see, we have a lot of things planned.  Too many things.  That's why, I doubt our itinerary will match what we ultimately do.  So stay tuned.  In a day or two or three the blog posts will come, maybe including pictures we take ourselves.

Itinerary Day Eleven

Our last full day in New York City.

A ride on the Staten Island Ferry seems in order given one other thing Rob really wants to do.  However, my mother also had one more thing she wants to do so Rob will be taking the ferry without me.

Rob wants to go to Ground Zero.  I do not.  So it's just as well that he will be touring a bit of the southernmost parts of Manhattan while I have lunch with my mother and her friend Cathy at Nice Matin.  (Yes, I'll have had lunch there with my step-sister as well.  Trying to keep things easy people.)

He also wants to see the Empire State Building so he may choose to do that instead.  Either way, he will get to explore the city on his own for a little bit.  He may really enjoy the opportunity to do some snooping about without having to worry about how I'm feeling.

Last but not least, we'll be having dinner with Love at McAleer's Pub.  Not our first choice but we chose a place that we thought Love would enjoy.

Itinerary Day Ten

Only two more days.

File:MoMa NY USA 1.jpg

Our last museum trip, I think.  We'll be going to the Museum of Modern Art (or, as I keep wanting to type MOMA).

File:Hayden Planetarium outside.jpg

If we have any energy left, we may head to the Hayden Planetarium , which is right across the street from our hotel so even if we exhaust ourselves doing one-more-thing, we can quickly get back to where we can collapse.

Itinerary Day Nine

Our trip is beginning to come to a close but we want to squeeze in a few more special memories.

File:The cloisters, bonnefort cloister 02.JPG

Today we will be heading way up town to the Cloisters.  I've never actually been so this will be a first time for me and for Rob.  The timing is superb because there is a special exhibit which is especially exciting for Rob (because it's music) as well as for me (music written during the Tudor period).

Janet Cardiff: The Forty Part Motet

Afterwards, we'll be heading back to the hotel.  It will have been a long day.  We'll have lunch at the
Trie Café.

Itinerary Day Eight

Another day of walking around.  Instead of a neighborhood, we're heading to Central Park.

Rob wants to see Belvedere Castle.  Naturally.

File:Gedenkstätte John Lennon, Central Park West.jpg

In the meantime, I want to see the Imagine mosaic in Strawberry Fields.

I spent many hours playing on this statue when I was a child.

File:Angel of the Waters Fountain and Bethesda Terrace, Central Park, NYC.jpg

And how many movies have moments at the Bethesda Fountain?

So we'll meander around Central Park and maybe we'll see all of these things and more or maybe we'll see a few of these things before we decide to head back to the hotel.  A lot depends on the weather, our stamina, and what we have in store for the last few days of our visit.
